Student leaf raking project smaller this year

Greene County High School students plan to carry out their annual leaf raking service project this fall, but due to constraints created by the Covid-19 pandemic, the project will be smaller than in previous years.

Teacher/organizer Teresa Green is generating a new, shorter list of addresses for the 2020 project. Student groups will rake lawns for homebound or senior residents whose family/friends are unable to rake and remove leaves, and who are unable to pay someone to do so.

Homeowners are asked to call the high school office at 515-386-2188 by Oct. 21 to be put on the list. Depending on how many residents need the service, a system for random selection may be used.

“Thank you in advance for your understanding and your continued support of the Greene County Schools,” Green said.
